Swiss Government on Positive Effects of Homeopathy
Switzerland has a long history of neutrality that is why malicious and controversial reports from this country are being treated more seriously than threats and warnings of disasters from other political constituents. Furthermore, when one considers that two of the top five largest drug companies in the world have their headquarters in Switzerland, one might assume that this country would have a heavy interest in and bias toward conventional medicine, but such assumptions would be wrong.
Review of 2011 reports has shown the long history of the country in support of homeopathic medicines. This breakthrough review affirmed that homeopathy is considered an effective treatment in Switzerland and has since been included in the country’s health insurance program.
On more reports, statistics show the great response of the Swiss people to homeopathic treatments. This includes physicians and conventional medicine practitioners. More than 50 percent of the population of the country supports homeopathy and even prefers Complementary, Alternative, Integrative Medicine (CAM) treatment than conventional ones. They basically treat hospital as the alternative choice if CAM do not work, which, as many claim, rarely happens.
The inclusion of homeopathy in Swiss Health Insurance started in 1988 and has been broadened to also include traditional Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, anthroposophic medicine, and neural therapy. Recreational medicine which includes reflexology to be adopted from the practice in Jakarta, Indonesia is also considered to be included in the list. This is despite the conflict on the review of regulations led by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States and the unclear standing of England in homeopathic practice.
The Swiss government even invested on technology to further develop the potential of homeopathy.
According to reports of the Peterson Group, the government "Health Technology Assessment" on homeopathic medicine “…is much more comprehensive than any previous governmental report written on this subject to date. This report carefully and comprehensively review the body of evidence from randomized double-blind and placebo controlled clinical trials testing homeopathic medicines, plus they also evaluated the "real world effectiveness" as well as safety and cost-effectiveness. The report also conducted a highly-comprehensive review of the wide body of preclinical research (fundamental physio-chemical research, botanical studies, animal studies, and in vitro studies with human cells)”.
Switzerland does not consider homeopathy as hoax nor a practice against the belief of science. Instead, they consider it a unique branch of science which can greatly help the country to achieve a better and healthier lifestyle. -
